DR CATHAL DOYLE
BIO
I’m a lecturer in Information Systems at the School of Information Management, Wellington School of Business and Government. My research platform encompasses three strands: design science research (DSR); technology and learning; and open science. DSR is the method I use to conduct research; I focus on platforms that can be used for learning, currently looking at online citizen science in education; and open science is how I make my work available to increase impact. I also contribute to these areas from a foundational perspective which includes looking at how to improve the relevance of DSR, especially in making it available to IS professionals, and how IS researchers can introduce open science practices to their research. Another area of interest is around an emerging type of information system that we refer to as Digital Productivity Assistants (DPAs), which look to help knowledge workers improve their productivity by creating awareness of their work behaviour and making suggestions on how they can change it. Here the focus has been on tools such as Microsoft MyAnalytics, and Grammarly.
